Great Party - No Friends!
Imagine giving a great party for your closest friends. To save the expense of printing you buy some generic invitations. To save time you write "occupant" on the envelope and ask the post office to see that they get delivered.

Good analogy Jay!

I really like your example. Gets you thinking in the FSBO mindframe. Thanks!

Jay- Now this made me smile.. I wonder how many FSBO's really understand that they are issuing a blank invitation into their homes to the world.

Love this take on FSBOs, meaning " Unrepresented Sellers"
ReplyDeleteJay, I will come to your party anytime. Congratulations on a well deserved gold star!

A wothwhile post, though the same scenario can occur with an agent represented open house. I've seen many cases of open houses where the whole neighborhood shuffles through the house, kicking the tires as it were.
ReplyDeleteHaving an agent doesn't specifically mitigate the time wasted be people 'who are just curious' 'looking for remodel ideas', though it certainly alleviates the other concerns you mention regarding timing etc.

Jay-- that was awesome. I've thought of going FSBO once (with an investment property), but you just successfully scared the doo-doo out of me...and made me laugh too. Thanks for the great post!

Jay,
ReplyDeleteBy all accounts you seem to be extremely knowledgeable regarding the RE market. I am interested in any type of dialogue that would allow an exchange of information. I am relatively new to the industry (I am a loan officer), but I have a strong background in promotions and marketing having spent the majority of the last decade promoting other people's business. I am interested in learning more from you if you would be willing to impart some of your knowledge.
